My Caring Paws pet therapy fund, winner of the 2025 Rising Star award, led the article with a great overview of this impressive young Fund of CFCC. My Caring Paws brings trained therapy dog and handler teams to various places across Carroll County, including Carroll Hospital and hospice center, senior centers, libraries, and family court. The Rising Star award is given to a new Fund that has been in operation with CFCC for two years or less and has exceeded all expectations.
Also featured was the work of Dream Big Union Bridge, winner of the 2025 Rooted in the Community award given to a long-standing fun of CFCC. DBUB has been helping the town of Union Bridge create a better of quality of life for residents and businesses with beautification projects, holiday programs (tree lightings, egg hunts), and the annual Duck Derby fundraiser. DBUB also launched a gift shop on Main Street so that vendors and residents had a place to sell and shop locally. The gift shop helps fund the programs in the community. There are changes coming to these funds with DBUB sunsetting and a new crew taking on the gift shop under a new nonprofit in Union Bridge.
In addition, winners Ed Leister, 2025 Living Legacy award; Herb Zeigler, Jr, 2025 BFF nominated by Brian Safe Haven; and Dave Bond, Carroll County’s Philanthropist of the Year nominated by Habitat for Humanity of Carroll County, were all highlighted.
