4-H HTI Contractors 4-H Scholarship

The purpose of the HTI CONTRACTORS 4-H SCHOLARSHIP is to provide scholarships to graduating seniors or students already in college from any Carroll County Public high school accepted or already enrolled at an accredited college or technical school who has participated in the Carroll County 4-H Program for at least three years and has exhibited livestock during that time. The scholarship will be awarded to one male and one female who meet the criteria established for the fund.

4-H Kelly Hale Memorial Award

This award is open to 4-H members in all Maryland Counties who are participants in the State Poultry Judging contest at the Maryland State fair. Kelly Hale, BA, MBA, CPA and her father Glenn Haines coached the Carroll County Poultry Judging Team for 17 years. She also attended the National Poultry and Egg Conference in Kentucky, when she was in 4-H. Kelly graduated from Francis Scott Key High School in 1998, Bridgewater College in 2002, and she received her Master’s Degree from Mt. St. Mary’s University. She was employed by Rager, Lehman & Houck, Carroll Hospital Center, and Legal & General America. She served on the Board of Directors of the Carroll County Community Media Center. Kelly died in 2014 leaving a husband and two young sons. This award is established in her honor.

Baker-Yingling Athletic Scholarship

The Baker-Yingling Athletic Scholarship Fund was established by the St. John's Boys Basketball Committee as a tribute to long-time coaches Larry Baker and Donald "Bo" Yingling. The purpose of the Fund is to provide scholarships for children involved in the athletic programs at St. John's Roman Catholic Community in Westminster, Maryland.

Catherine Anne Mullikin Memorial Scholarship (Catherine's Cause)

The Catherine Anne Mullikin Memorial Scholarship is sponsored by “Catherine’s Cause” a Carroll Community Foundation Fund. A drunk driver killed Catherine in 1998 and her family is keeping her memory alive by offering scholarships for students pursuing a degree in education.Student must maintain full time enrollment status (12 or more credit hours) during the entire semester that the scholarship award has been designated. The scholarship is based on academic achievement, community service and extracurricular activities.

Christopher H Knorr Memorial Scholarship

In July of 2022, Chris Knorr unexpectedly passed away. Chris Knorr was a loving father, baseball/softball/basketball coach in the area, an active member of his church, and a friendly face to all in the community. Chris always believed everyone should follow their heart and make an impact in any way possible. Our goal is to raise money for two scholarships for Century and Liberty High School that goes to a senior at each school who is involved in the community and made an impact, and to continue on his legacy.

Collin McComber Charitable Fund Scholarship

The purpose of the Collin McComber Charitable Fund Scholarship is to honor his life by providing financial assistance to a student(s) at the Young School in Westminster, Maryland whose family is undergoing temporary, unforeseen financial hardship. Tuition payments may be made for a two-month period at a time with a limit of six months of tuition at the school. No child will receive the award more than once. The family must also meet the criteria established for the fund.

Denion Family Scholarship Fund

The Denion Family Scholarship was created to provide a $500 scholarship to 10 (ten) graduating seniors from Westminster High School (WHS). The scholarship salutes the many hard-working educators in WHS who go the extra mile to help students become successful, productive members of our community. The awardees of this scholarship will be chosen based on demonstrated attributes related to creativity, work ethic, determination, character, attitude, and a willingness to help others. Any graduating senior of WHS who has a weighted GPA of 2.75 or better and is pursuing further education through a two- or four-year university or trade school is encouraged to apply for this scholarship.

Dr. Saleem Shah Memorial Scholarship

The Dr. Saleem A. Shah Memorial Scholarship is sponsored by Catherine’s Cause, a Carroll County Community Foundation Fund. Dr. Shah a leading Psychologist with the National Institute of Health was hit head on in November of 1992 by a Drunk Driver on his way home. He left a family with a wife, six daughters and eight grandchildren at that time. Dr. Shah’s daughters regularly volunteer with Catherine’s Cause and are strong advocates on working to alert the public on the dangers of Drinking and Driving. To honor Dr. Shah’s memory the family along with Catherine’s Cause are offering this Scholarship in the field of Mental Health in his honor.

Emma Grace Jester Memorial Scholarship

The Emma Grace Jester Memorial Scholarship is sponsored by “Catherine’s Cause”, a Carroll County Community Foundation Fund. Emma Grace was killed by a drunk driver in 2008 on Kent County roads, at the young age of four years old. Emma has family in Carroll County and her mother, Jennifer Edwards, regularly volunteers with the Foundation. Jennifer is a Kent County resident and a Graduate of Queen Anne County High School. In an effort to keep Emma’s Memory alive, we offer scholarships to those interested in Criminal Justice Education.

F. Lynn Mayer Memorial Scholarship

The F. Lynn Mayer Memorial Fund provides financial assistance to a student from Catonsville High School, Baltimore County, Maryland, to be determined based on the amount of money available in accordance with the terms of this agreement. Hannah M. R. Shunk Memorial Scholarship Fund

The purpose of the HANNAH M.R. SHUNK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP, established in 1945 by Hanna M.R. Shunk, is to provide scholarships for graduating high school seniors at Francis Scott Key High School in Carroll County, Maryland to encourage students to pursue a college education. The scholarship winner will be nominated by the Francis Scott Key High School Scholarship Committee and approved by the Board of Directors of the Community Foundation of Carroll County, Inc. International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 37 Scholarship

This scholarship is to provide scholarships for continuing education, undergraduate or graduate study to current and retired members of IUOE, Local 37, their sposes, dependent children (as defined by IRS regulation) and grandchildren. The purpose of the John Grason Steffey Scholarship is to provide scholarships for two graduates of Williamsport, Maryland, public high school, and if none qualify, then unto two high school students residing within Williamsport and the general vicinity thereof in Washington County, Maryland. Kiwanis Club of Westminster Scholarship Fund

Providing scholarships for graduating seniors in Carroll County, Maryland who have attained their secondary school diploma from the Carroll County Career & Technology Center. The scholarships shall be for those students to attend schools of higher learning or a certified program appropriate to further devcelop their capacities and capabilities. Need for finalncial assistance, academic record, achievements and awards, and written or verbal presentation to the Kiwanis Club of Westminster Scholarship Committee shall be taken into consideration.

And, providing scholarships for college bound seniors graduating from Winters Mill High School in Westminster, Carroll County, Maryland. The scholarship shall be for those students who have demonstrated community involvement, school involvement, leadership and academic achievement.

Larry E. Pickett Memorial Scholarship Fund

In 1998, Mrs. Larry Pickett established the Larry E. Memorial Scholarship Fund to benefit a student at Catonsville High School in Science and in Music and Theater. The criteria for the scholarship required that the recipient be selected by a Scholarship Committee at the high school, and approved by the Board of Directors at the Community Foundation. Union Bridge Lions Club Scholarship Fund

The Union Bridge Lions Club has established the Fund for the purpose of providing an annual scholarship to a graduating Senior of Francis Scott Key High School in Union Bridge, Maryland. The winner shall be that student who displays the following qualities: good citizenship, academic striving and performance and class loyalty and participation. The winner will have been accepted at a college, university, trade or technical school, and shall be chosen by the graduating Senior Class of Francis Scott Key High School by secret ballot. Said balloting to be supervised by the appropriate faculty and staff of the school and tabulated by the Union Bridge Lions Club Scholarship Committee. All scholarships monies shall be transmitted by the Community Foundation of Carroll County directly to the college or university on or about July 1 of each year and applied directly to the student’s tuition and/or books. The monies shall not be remitted to the scholarship winner.
